Before you decide.

Is Odoo better than Tally?

For accounts and GST alone, Tally does the job well and your CA probably knows it. Odoo is better when the business has outgrown the books: several godowns, field sales, production or many departments that need one live system. Odoo is a full ERP; Tally is mainly accounting and inventory software.

Tally vs Odoo: which costs less?

They are priced differently. TallyPrime is a Silver or Gold licence, bought for life or rented, with a yearly TSS renewal from year two for connected services. With Shellkube, Odoo is one price per company per year, set by how many people use it daily, light users (people who only approve, view or use self-service) are free, and setup is a fixed-price Go-Live Package. Can we move our Tally data to Odoo?

Yes. Chart of accounts, ledgers, masters and open balances are moved over and verified against your trial balance before cut-over. Nothing switches over until both trial balances match.

Do we have to stop using Tally on day one?

No. Most businesses run both in parallel during migration and cut over only after the numbers are verified against the trial balance.

Can our CA keep using Tally?

Yes. Your CA can have a free Odoo login, or a Tally parallel sync add-on keeps Tally updated from Odoo so the CA can keep working in Tally.

Does Odoo handle GST, e-invoice and e-way bill like Tally?

Yes. Odoo generates the e-invoice IRN and the e-way bill through its connection to the NIC portals, and GSTR-1 and 3B data comes from your books. Multiple GSTINs and place-of-supply rules are supported, and unlimited e-invoices and e-way bills are included in every Shellkube plan.
